Eat Wild
Our motto at Marina Del Rey is you gotta eat wild to live wild. All kidding aside, the health benefits of wild caught seafood are tremendous, not to mention the environmental issues that arise with farmed seafood (aquaculture).

Health benefits
Let’s just start by saying our seafood are created exactly the way nature intended. Unfortunately, in shrimp and fish farms, antibiotics, hormones, and color are added to the seafood. Even worse, these shrimps are swimming in man made pools with waste matter, chemicals and bacteria.
Marina Del Rey shrimp are actually caught in the wild, natural habitat. You know you’re getting the purest form of seafood that we could catch. Wild shrimp are not only a cleaner option, but carry significantly lower sodium levels as well.
Naturally rich in protein and low in calories seafood is an excellent source of amino acids, which play a key role in the formation of digestive enzymes, hormones and tissues, such as skin and bone.
Furthermore, shrimp contain two fatty acids of the omega-3 family, which benefit the cardiovascular system.

Environmental benefits
You know all about those additives in farmed shrimp that we mentioned before? Well, after a while the pollution and disease catch up to these farms, and they’re forced to make new ones. In fact, all these farms are actually a huge threat to our forests. It’s an awful cycle of environmental destruction.
Marina Del Rey does it’s best to work with fisheries who share a love of the waters, and care about protecting the earth.
Our wild caught Argentinian shrimp are caught from responsible fisheries that are currently working hard at improving their fishing practices through MSC standards. If you would like to learn more about our fisheries FIP progress, get in touch with us and we will be happy to share all the information!
Our wild caught Icelandic scallops are from a fishery in Iceland that works with the Icelandic marine research institute for each fishing season to decide which areas off the coast are approved. They keep in mind stock status, and the ecosystem.
